Establish a group of investigators who work together and are dedicated to further the understanding of endocarditis • To collect, analyze, and disseminate data on IE • To improve the medical care of patients with IE through better understanding of patient demographics, management, and outcomes • Develop a network of investigators to develop IE related registry projects and perform randomized clinical trials.

in hospital patients with endocarditis

Non-probability sampling: only in-hospital patients are collected.

To be enrolled in this observational registry, patients must meet the following baseline criteria:

• High clinical suspicion of acute and/or active IE

o Definite or Possible by Duke Criteria (Appendix C)

• Patients are identified prospectively

• Patients can be evaluated at the time of presentation

• Adequate records are available to complete the CRF
