Over the past years, we have been seeing an
increasing number of confirmed VZV meningitis cases at the American University
of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC), a tertiary care center in Beirut, Lebanon.
This sprouted our interest in examining this entity. The aim of our study is to
conduct a retrospective, single-centered study that would gather data about VZV
meningitis in patients seen at AUBMC since 2008, which is when PCR was first
implemented at the institution
Hospitalized patients with VZV meningitis
Retrospective Chart review of patients diagnosed with VZV meningitis
1- Patients with Clinical and Laboratory findings compatible with meningitis
2- Cerebrospinal fluid PCR positive for VZV
3- Patient followed up after 2008
No exclusion criteria
