The rapid evolution of coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) imaging has seen this imaging technique challenge conventional coronary angiography in the evaluation of coronary artery disease. However, new challenges in contrast medium (CM) delivery and image acquisition strategies have arisen. The aim of this paper is to evaluate CM bolus geometry and opacification patterns in the coronary arteries with particular focus on patient, scanner, contrast media and safety considerations during CCTA.
