Our study will aim at describing the demographic and clinical characteristics, as well as treatment

modalities and outcomes of confirmed cases of snakebite patients presenting to AUBMC. Also, we will

try to identify vulnerable populations at higher risk of getting bitten by snakes to try to propose some

recommendations for this population.

All patients who presented to AUBMC emergency department after the year 2000 and who were confirmed cases of snakebite victims

The study will be a retrospective chart review study of all patients who presented to AUBMC emergency

department after the year 2000 and who were confirmed cases of snakebite victims. We will refer to the

Medical record department to perform a preliminary search of patients with the admission/discharge

diagnosis of snake bite. The chart of corresponding patients will be reviewed and a data collection form

will be completed. (Data collection sheet attached). The approximate sample size from preliminary

search of snakebite patients is about 25. The following data will be collected from chart review and

analyzed: Demographics, patient presentation, vital signs at presentation, physical examination

characteristics, tests and work up, treatments, complications, ED disposition and follow up.
